Portrait Oxana Shevchenko

In a season of firsts, Cuore was honoured to be joined for our first concerto performance by outstanding international pianist, Oxana Shevchenko.

Oxana rose to international prominence after winning First Prize at the Scottish International Piano Competition in 2010. Her debut recording for Delphian Records, featuring works by Shostakovich, Mozart, Liszt, and Ravel, was selected as an Editor’s Choice by Gramophone, which praised it as “the most exciting debut disc to come my way for some time.” Her most recent release is a critically acclaimed double album of Igor Stravinsky’s complete solo piano music.

Critic Fiona Hook writes ‘Kazakh pianist Oxana Shevchenko played with a consistent virtuosity that was always at the service of the music, nostalgic and expressive in the slow movement, duetting sweetly with flautist Lily Vernon-Purves, and full of jolly party brio in the third. Her crystal-clear octaves were a delight to hear.

As a cherished Cuore Artist, we look forward to collaborating with Oxana again in the future.
